I love praying with my students. We pray during revisions, examination and tests. Most times when I’ve explained a topic to them and they find it difficult to comprehend, I ask them to pray for understanding and I go home also and pray for wisdom to explain better.
I was quite surprised when the teacher brought my students script and I saw 96% on John’s script, don’t get me wrong, John is intelligent but not to the extend of scoring 96%. Let’s do a recap
John is a very intelligent student. He understands a topic quickly and make contributions when asked but he has a little disability.
John finds it easy to answer a question but writing it down becomes an issue. I’m sure you read that to mean he can’t spell. No, he’s good at spelling only when asked to spell verbally.
Whenever John tries to write his answers, the words and letters are always jumbled in his mind which makes it difficult to spell and organise words correctly.
For example, John can define a Noun correctly but when asked to write it down, he write this ” A Nonu is any name persn , aimal.”
This made it very difficult for him to score high marks even though he was intelligent. Most times I’ll have to call him to my table and have him spell each word and out them down as he spells.
Now you can understand why I was surprised to see a 96% on his script. I went to the extend of going through what he wrote and my boy spelled each word correctly and organized them perfectly too.
I called him and showed him the script and my boy frowned his face immediately.
Me: Why that face? You passed !!! Aren’t you excited?
Him: I was expecting a 100. I prayed very well and told God I want to wear a crown as best student in basic science and I also read very well. Now I scored 96, that means I’ll have to read and pray very well next time. I must score 100%.
I just couldn’t stop staring at John that day. I couldn’t believe what just happened plus I wasn’t expecting his reply.
Now the best part was John scored 100% in the next basic science examination and I made a very beautiful crown for him. My boy couldn’t contain his excitement that day. He kept telling everyone he got a crown.
