READING STRATEGY (PART 3)

You know what they say about having several teaching strategies up your sleeve “WITH THE DIVERSE LEARNERS REPRESENTED IN YOUR CLASS, YOU JUST CAN’T AFFORD TO HAVE ONE APPROACH TO LEARNING”.

Every time I start something new in my class, I just realize how that act positively affects the grades and activeness of a child in my class.

I made a whole lot of research before I commenced this session and trust me, I’ll share them with you.

With the height range of my new students, I had to take my small board to work for them to use during their free time.

Here’s the gist…

I encourage children to write on the board. Having them roleplay as teachers and students aids their learning process.

With my students, there is a strict rule. We don’t joke with the board writing.

It’s either you’re giving yourself classwork, explaining something on the board, or spelling words. That way, they are relearning things that have been taught in class, and this aids in retaining and recalling information.

I have this child in class who has difficulty learning new words.

The board method is the second strategy I inculcated into her learning (Yes, her learning because I use the differentiation method in my class).

Here’s what I do.

1) We learn new words

2) I give her a marker and ask her to rewrite those words and pronounce them while writing.

3) We bring in roleplaying. I ask her to teach fellow students how to pronounce those words.

BAM!

Look who has been able to learn some new words over the week.

Let me end with this.

Please, encourage your students’ progress no matter how insignificant you think it might seem.

No progress is too small.

Also, never compare children.

Thank you for reading 殺
